Setting Smart Goals for 2022

Everybody hopes 2022 will be a better year for all of us. A “better year” could mean different things for different people. But, one thing is for certain - part of our definition of a “better year” would be our hope that this pandemic will end soon.

For now, the best thing that we could do is to become a better version of ourselves, as we wade through the challenges in this pandemic era. Let’s first start by setting a realistic set of smart goals for 2022!

In this list, you’ll find that our smart goals for 2022 not only focus on one aspect, but rather the goals we listed here will help us become better not just in terms of health status, but as a whole being, and a better person in this society we are living in.

Here are the smart goals for 2022 that will help you become better and stronger in all aspects of your life.

Take Your Hobby Seriously

This may sound counterintuitive but if you are passionate about your hobby, why not take it seriously? Think about investing in it so you can make money from it. Wouldn’t it be nice to start earning from something you love doing? Think of it as a side hustle but with no risks, no pressures and only pure enjoyment.

Do you love to cook? Why not create a recipe book of your own? Do you love making cocktails? Collect videos and books about cocktails. Perhaps, a book about mixology?

Do you have a fascination for guns? Why not create your own videos reviewing guns

Or, do you love shooting? You may choose to visit interesting indoor shooting ranges both near or far from your current location to hone your shooting skills, maybe make a trip out of it.

No matter what your hobby is, there will always be a way to take it to the next level. This next level could either be a phase where you make significant improvements to your skills associated with your hobby, a way to make a side hustle out of it, or both.

Just remember to always enjoy the process! Because if you no longer find pleasure in what you’re doing, then chances are it won’t make for a good investment. Note: We’re talking about smart goals here, right?

Stick to a Fitness Routine

Your smart goals for 2022 wouldn’t be achievable, no matter how smart they seem, without a healthy body. A healthy body is key to being able to accomplish the things you want and need to do in life. So, part of making your mind and body healthy this 2022 is to commit to a fitness routine.

If you haven’t been to a Yoga or Pilates class before, now is the time to give it a try. Keep in mind, it doesn’t have to be a face-to-face class. If you’re worried about health protocols during this pandemic era, you can subscribe to online fitness classes and still be able to stick to your fitness routine on a regular basis.

I personally love following Juliana’s instructions from her and her husband Mark’s BOHO Beautiful YouTube Yoga and Pilates classes.

Don’t just aim to look good on Instagram this 2022. Remember that exercise has plenty of benefits. Have you found yourself stuck in what you’re doing and you find it hard to proceed because your brain refuses to cooperate? In times like this, you need to get your blood pumping to your brain. Grab your yoga mat or your running shoes and start exercising.

Strive to become healthier this year by staying more active. The best part is exercising is free! Go for a brisk walk outdoors or try some tummy trimming exercises just by following your favorite YouTube videos. And, before you know it you’ll look and feel good both inside and out!

Be a Healthy Eater

To loose weight and look more beautiful is perhaps a goal for many people for the year 2022. But the truth is this may not count as a smart goals for 2022, that is, if you’re merely focusing on the improvement of your outward appearance.

If whole foods aren’t currently a part of your priorities when preparing meals, it’s high time you rethink your meal planning. But, how can you be assured that you’ll be able to achieve your smart goals for 2022?

If you find out you aren’t healthy enough to achieve your smart goals for 2022, try making an adjustment by putting a greater importance on what you’re eating on a daily basis. After all, we are what we eat!

Many claim to be too busy to prepare healthy breakfasts. Others say they just don’t have time  to sit down and  plan their meals for the week. Don’t worry. All these healthy weekly meal planners can be yours without breaking a sweat!.

Do a quick little Google search for sites that offer healthy weekly meal plans.

Be an Advocate of Real and Sustainable Change

How about a better environment where we all could live together?

If you’re just thinking about becoming a better you this 2022 by making a list of goals that only you can benefit from, then your “smart” goals for 2022 may not be as smart as they could be.

At first glance, you may think this is something so broad and too difficult to do. But, what many of us do not realize is the fact that committing to sustainable change doesn't have to be too complicated. All it takes is to begin with little changes we do everyday in our lives.

Try to incorporate small, yet eco-friendly changes into your lifestyle. Committing to an eco-friendly and zero waste lifestyle benefits the environment and not just yourself. The benefits of practicing sustainability are so profound that many people don’t even realize it’s so doable and so important.

From making a shift to energy-efficient devices such as the use of LED lighting in your home, using a solar-powered keyboard at work - to using your own reusable water bottle instead of buying water from plastic bottles over and over again. These are just a few of the many simple ways to practice our advocacy for sustainability. Check out the efforts of 4Ocean if you need a little inspiration.

How about bringing your reusable totes each time you visit the Farmer's Market or grocery store? Or, using biodegradable grease bucket liners whenever you do some outdoor grilling? All these small changes will accumulate into one huge favor that you’re giving to the environment and to yourself.

Don’t forget that the more you use reusable and biodegradable items, you are also reducing your body’s exposure to toxin-emitting objects.

Save More for Your Retirement

Unfortunately, Social Security does not provide enough “security” for your retirement days. Financial experts reveal that social security only replaces about 40 percent of an average wage earner’s monthly income when they retire.

In other words, even if you have your social security income, you still need to have at least 70 percent of your monthly income for a comfortable life after retirement. If you think you’ve already saved enough just because you have your social security, factor in the decrease in purchasing power of each dollar. So, this 2022, do your best to save just a little more for your retirement.

If you try your best to follow these smart goals for 2022, chances are high that your life will significantly improve.

You will not only become healthier both physically and mentally, you will also be able to lead a healthier life knowing that no matter how hectic your daily routine gets, you're taking care of yourself by setting aside time for your hobbies and your financial future.
